5 things worth doing early
The undergraduate syllabus policy requires a statement that the information in the syllabus, "other than the grade and absence policies, may be subject to change with reasonable advance notice". Save every syllabus in week one; the grading and absence rules in it are the ones that hold all term.
"Within one (1) year of awarding the grade, final grades may be changed by the instructor only if there has been an error in computation." Do the extra credit and fix your scores before grades post; afterward, extra work cannot raise them.
For students entering in Fall 2026 or later: "The course sequence required is determined by the Foundations Writing Evaluation." Depending on the result you take one, two or three writing courses. Take the evaluation seriously.
"Undergraduate students who have missed no more than two consecutive regular (Fall/Spring) semesters may return without applying for readmission or requesting an official Leave of Absence." "Eligible students automatically qualify for Back2UA and do not need to notify the University of their intent to return."
Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.
A community college term can set your catalog
"The term of admission is the first term in which a student enrolls in the University of Arizona or in a public Arizona community college or university." Check which catalog year your advisement report uses.
UA Catalog — choice of catalogYou can move down to an easier course
"Students unable to meet satisfactorily the requirements of courses in which they are registered may be transferred to less advanced courses in the same department if the head of the department and the instructors approve."
