5 things worth doing early
"The student's degree program will appear on the baccalaureate diploma. Major names are not listed on diplomas but are documented on the transcript." Your diploma says the degree, like a BS. When someone needs proof of your major, send the transcript.
"Instructors do not have the authority to permit a student to shift from one course section to another without following official drop/add procedures." A professor saying "just come to my other section" does not move you. Make the change in drop/add, or the grade stays with the section you are registered in.
"Individual courses may be dropped through the seventh week of classes except for mandated college preparatory courses, freshman composition, and courses involved in allegations of academic dishonesty; however, tuition charges remain." Treat your composition class as one you are finishing this term.
"Registration on an S/U basis is limited to one elective course per term (exclusive of physical education activity courses) and to a maximum total of 18 credit hours." It is only for "elective courses outside the major, minor, and CoreFSU Curriculum areas", and "Except for students in their first term at FSU, at least a 2.5 grade point average is required."
Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.
Miss the first class meeting and you can be dropped
"Students who do not attend the first class meeting of a class for which they are registered will be dropped from the class by the academic department that offers the class." Go on day one, or talk to the department before it starts.
FSU General Bulletin — attendance policyAn A-minus is a 3.75 here
FSU's grading table lists "A– 3.75" and "B+ 3.25" — not the 3.67 and 3.33 many schools use. And there is no grade forgiveness: "Both the original and repeat grades will be used in the computation of GPA but credit for only one attempt will apply toward graduation."
