Your Georgia State checklist

5 things worth doing early

When you need help

5 things Georgia State freshmen figure out too late

Watch the video
  1. 1 Advisor got it wrong? Still on you

"In no case will a regulation be waived or an exception granted because a student pleads ignorance of the regulation or asserts that he or she was not informed of a specific requirement by an advisor or other university authority." Check your own degree audit.

  2. 2 Only 12 hours of Ds ever count

"Georgia State University will allow no more than 12 semester hours of D grades to apply toward degree requirements of a baccalaureate program of study." That 12 includes transfer credit.

  3. 3 Language placement? First try counts

"Please be advised that only the first score will count if you take the exam more than once." Take the online placement test seriously the first time.

  4. 4 Took it here once? Retake it here

"In general, transfer credit will not be awarded for a course that a student has previously attempted at Georgia State (including attempts which resulted in a withdrawal)." Departments may waive it, so ask first.

  5. 5 Record the lecture — Gus makes the notes, flashcards and quiz

Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.

Five City Scholars courses earn you a title

"Students who earn a grade of B or better in five 3000-4000 City Scholars courses and who have an institutional grade-point average of 3.0 or higher at the time of graduation will be recognized as City Scholars."

Perimeter College classes? Summer only
