5 things worth doing early
In the KU Core 34 requirements, the Natural & Physical Sciences goal is "4-5 hours; must include a lab". A lecture course on its own does not finish the goal. Before you enroll, check that the science course you pick comes with its lab, or that you add the separate lab course that goes with it.
The University Senate rules: "An I not removed according to this rule shall automatically convert to a grade of F or U, or the lapse grade assigned by the course instructor". The deadline the instructor sets "may not exceed one calendar year from the original grade due date". If you take an I, write the completion date in your calendar and finish well before it.
In the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences: "Students who fall below a 2.00 KU cumulative GPA for the first time will be placed on notice." And: "Students will only receive one notice semester." If your GPA slips under 2.0, treat that notice semester as your one chance to recover, and see your advisor right away.
"A minimum of 45 credit hours in courses numbered 300 or above is required for graduation from all KU undergraduate schools." A schedule full of 100- and 200-level electives can leave you short in your last year. Plan the upper-level hours into all four years.
Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.
20 hours is the ceiling
In the College: "No undergraduate may enroll for more than 20 hours per semester except by permission of the Assistant Dean for College Undergraduate Academic Services." And "Summer enrollment is limited to 10 hours."
KU Catalog — College undergraduate regulationsSkip a prerequisite and you can be dropped
The College says prerequisites "are enforced in a variety of ways including blocking enrollment, administrative drops without notice, etc." Check each course's prerequisites before you enroll.
