5 things worth doing early
"To meet the ACE Program requirement, a student will complete the equivalent of 3 credit hours for each of the following ten ACE Student Learning Outcomes (a total of 30 ACE credit hours)". And: "No ACE course may satisfy more than one ACE Student Learning Outcome in a student’s program." If a course is tagged with two ACE numbers, it still fills only one. Plan ten separate classes.
"Credit towards the degree may be earned in only one from each group of courses listed below." One group is "MATH 104 Applied Calculus or MATH 106 Calculus I"; another puts STAT 218 with ECON 215, EDPS 459 and CRIM 300. Check the antirequisite list before you sign up for a second calculus or statistics course.
"A student who takes MATH 107 or MATH 107H at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln as their first math course at the post-secondary level and earns a C, P, or better upon first attempt is eligible for credit for MATH 106." It is not available if you already have college math credit from AP, dual enrollment or transfer work. If you are ready for Calc II, start there and ask your advisor about the credit.
"Priority Registration for the spring starts in October and ends in November", and each student's time is "based on how many credits have been earned as well as the number of hours in progress". Look up your enrollment time in MyRED now and book your advisor before it opens.
Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.
18 credits is the usual ceiling
"Undergraduate students may register for up to 18 credit hours per semester, except for the College of Business which allows a maximum of 19 credit hours and the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts which allow a student to register for up to 20 credit hours."
UNL Catalog — academic policies and proceduresArts and Sciences: a C- will not count for your major
In the College of Arts and Sciences, C- and D grades still earn credit but cannot be applied toward requirements in a major or a minor. Treat a C as the real passing grade in those courses.
