5 things worth doing early
University Academic Regulation 5.1: "the last digit indicates the number of semester credit hours the course carries." And: "A course number beginning with zero indicates that the course does not carry University credit." Read the last digit before you build your schedule, and know that a course starting with 0 earns nothing toward your degree.
Regulation 5.2: "the maximum enrollment for undergraduates without special approval is 19 credit hours." "Enrollment in 20 to 24 credit hours results in academic overload, which requires a Petition for Excessive Hours." If you really want 20 or more, file the petition before you try to enroll.
Regulation 5.6: "Before the beginning of a term, departments may review class rosters to verify completion of prerequisite requirements and may initiate action to drop students who do not meet the published requirements." Check every course's prerequisites in the Catalog before you enroll, and get the instructor's waiver first if you do not meet them.
Regulation 3.4: "Courses carrying a D and another general education designation can count toward both this requirement and another area's minimum credit hour requirement." The same rule applies to Global (G) courses. Pick Diversity and Global courses that also carry an H, S or N tag, so each one does double duty.
Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.
There is a grade called F!
"The "!" indicates that the student failed the course because of a violation of academic integrity." "Students may remove the first "!" (though not the "F") from their transcripts by completing an academic integrity educational program."
OSU Catalog — University Academic RegulationsHonors cutoffs never round up
Cum laude starts at 3.70, and a GPA like 3.69785 is cut, not rounded: "However, the value used to determine distinction is 3.69, which does not qualify for a level of distinction."
