Your OU checklist

5 things worth doing early

When you need help

5 things OU freshmen figure out too late

Watch the video
  1. 1 Taking it pass/fail? Your prof never knows

"To prevent any discrimination in grading, the student’s choice of P/NP grading will not be made known to the instructor in a course." And: "The minimum performance level required to receive a P grade in a course is a grade of C."

  2. 2 Two finals at once? The earliest class wins

"In the event a conflict should arise from the scheduling of two or more final examinations at the same time, the student will attend the examination for the class that met first during the week, according to the student’s class schedule." "The instructor(s) giving the second and subsequent exams must provide make-up exams during the week designated for final exams that semester."

  3. 3 Cheat on one quiz, lose more than it

"Grade reductions may exceed the value of the assignment in which the misconduct occurred and may also be accompanied by requirements to complete a substitute assignment or examination."

  4. 4 Auditing a class? Slack off, get a W

"A grade of W may be assigned to a student who has not performed according to the instructor’s requirements for an auditor in that class." And: "Such W’s will be applied to the total of five drops allowed in a student’s academic career."

  5. 5 Record the lecture — Gus makes the notes, flashcards and quiz

Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.

One more thing

Retake a class up to four times, and the best grade counts

"Students may repeat any course up to four times." "Only the highest of the four attempts will be used in the calculation of the student’s overall GPA and total hours earned". All attempts still show on your permanent record.

OU General Catalog — academic records (repeat policy)

Finish in December? Commencement is in May

"Although the formal Commencement ceremony is held only at the conclusion of the spring semester, degrees are posted and awarded at the end of each fall and spring semester and summer session." Some colleges hold their own convocations too.
