Your CU Denver checklist

5 things worth doing early

When you need help

5 things CU Denver freshmen wish they knew sooner

  1. 1 Waitlisted? You get enrolled for you

"When someone drops a closed class, the student who is next in line on the waitlist is automatically enrolled." If your plans change, drop the class yourself.

  2. 2 A second math class can be your science

"Students must complete two science courses, one of which must have an associated lab component." And "Students may use an approved Core Math course, except the course used to fulfill the Core Math requirement, or MATH 1108 Stretch College Algebra-Part 1 as a non-lab science."

  3. 3 Lived abroad? Skip a Core requirement

"The Core International Perspectives requirement may be waived on the basis of prior international residency, study abroad, approved military experience, or other significant international experience, as described in the International Perspectives Proficiency Credit Guidelines." You have to apply for it.

  4. 4 Your prof decides if a B+ even exists

"Note: Instructors may, at their discretion, use the plus/minus system but are not required to do so." Check each syllabus.

  5. 5 Record the lecture — Gus makes the notes, flashcards and quiz

Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.

One more thing

Final high school transcript missing? You get held

"For admission to CU Denver, final official transcripts are required from all high schools and higher education institutions previously attended by the student." And "A registration hold will be placed on the student record in the case that documents are missing."

Enrolled? You cannot also audit a class

"Auditors may not be registered for any other University of Colorado courses during the time they are auditing."
