Your UNF checklist

5 things worth doing early

When you need help

5 things UNF freshmen wish they knew sooner

Watch the video
  1. 1 Record your lectures. It is your right

Under Florida Statute 1004.097, UNF's Student Code says "A student may audio or video record a class lecture in which the student is enrolled for the following purposes:" — the first is personal educational use. Faculty may restrict labs, discussion, presentations and exams, and publishing a recording needs the lecturer's written consent.

  2. 2 Cheat and get an unforgivable F

"An "FA" grade indicates a student has received a punitive or unforgivable F due to academic misconduct." Grade forgiveness cannot replace it.

  3. 3 Your dean cannot change your grade

"Neither the Chair nor Dean may override the instructor's decision and issue a change of grade without the faculty member's concurrence." A grade appeal is a formal process, so start with your professor.

  4. 4 Take-home final? Due in finals week

"If a "take-home" final examination is given, students shall not be required to return the completed examination prior to the scheduled final examination period for the course."

  5. 5 Record the lecture — Gus makes the notes, flashcards and quiz

Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.

One more thing

Probation shows up on your transcript

"Academic probation is a warning and will be reflected on the UNF transcripts."
