Your UNT checklist

5 things worth doing early

When you need help

5 things UNT freshmen wish they knew sooner

Watch the video
  1. 1 Your class could be 3 miles away

"Students may take courses on the main campus, at Discovery Park (a 3-mile shuttle ride from the main campus), at Frisco, at other locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, or online." Check where each class meets before you stack them back to back.

  2. 2 Send AP scores early or rules can change

"Students may request that AP exams be applied to their transcript after their first term/semester, but they may be held to the standards in place the semester of the request, rather than those in place when the test was taken." Scores sent to UNT (code 6481) before you arrive are applied automatically.

  3. 3 Last class elsewhere? You graduate later

"Students otherwise eligible for graduation who complete their final course or courses elsewhere will not graduate at the end of the term/semester or summer session/term in which the work is completed because of the time required for obtaining transcripts; such students will have their degrees conferred at the close of a subsequent UNT term/semester."

  4. 4 Suspended? Summer can get you back

"A student under academic suspension may attend the UNT summer enrollment periods with the approval of their college or school." And "If, at the end of the summer enrollment period, a student raises the UNT-CGPA to a minimum of 2.0, the student will be reinstated in good academic standing."

  5. 5 Record the lecture — Gus makes the notes, flashcards and quiz

Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.

One more thing

Classes elsewhere? Send the transcript

"Students who earn transfer hours from other institutions while attending UNT must submit an official transcript to the Registrar's Office at the end of each term." Otherwise "an academic hold may be placed on the student's account, preventing future registration and receipt of an official UNT transcript."

UNT Catalog — registration and schedule adjustment

A P never turns into a letter grade

"Only courses counted as electives on the student's degree plan may be scheduled under the pass/no pass option." And "under no circumstances is a grade of P changed to a letter grade."
