5 things worth doing early
In the College, full-time students are in good standing if, among other things, they have "earned no more than one final grade of C- or below." "Students who do not meet standards for Good Academic Standing in a fall or spring term incur academic warning." A high semester GPA does not cancel a second C-minus.
"Grade appeals may only relate to the process of how the final grade was computed and not the quality of a student's work." And: "Appeals of the grading process may result in a lower grade being awarded."
"Credit from dual enrollment cannot satisfy the First Writing Requirement." Test credit is different: "Equivalent transfer and test credit earned before matriculating to UVA can satisfy the First Writing Requirement." Dual enrollment also "cannot satisfy the World Languages Requirement."
"Students who believe they may have committed an Honor offense can admit to that offense and make amends while remaining in the Community of Trust by filing a CR." But: "A CR can only be filed before a student has any reason to believe that they may be under suspicion for committing the offense."
Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.
You can be picked for an Honor panel
"In 2023, a standardized Honor Hearing panel composition was created to include seven randomly selected students and five Honor Committee representatives." Ignoring the summons "is considered a breach of the University Standards of Conduct".
UVA Undergraduate Record — the Honor SystemHonor reaches two years past graduation
Students who have left for any reason, including graduation, remain subject to the Honor System "so long as a case is reported within two years from the date of the alleged offense."
