5 things worth doing early
"Students who are absent from a final exam for any reason must report that fact and the reason, in writing, to their Instructor within 24 hours." And: "If the absence is not reported as provided above, or is not excused by the instructor, the exam is regarded as failed."
"If an out-of-class exam or other activity (e.g., field trip, campus speaker or event, workshop) conflicts with a regularly scheduled class, the regularly scheduled class has priority." For hour tests set outside class time: "Faculty members must be prepared to give a make-up test for those unable to be present at the time set."
"Courses may be dropped through the first 10 instructional days of the semester." Then: "Drops will only be allowed after the tenth day of instruction if a student did not attend the class." After that, "From the eleventh day of instruction until the second business day after the 60% point in the semester, students may withdraw from courses."
"Students having a conflict in their final exam schedule must notify the faculty concerned of such a conflict not later than the close of business 1 week prior to the last day of classes for the semester in which the conflict arises."
Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.
Auditing a class gets you no claim on the prof
"Auditors have no claim on the time or service of the instructor." Auditing itself needs sign-off: "Students wishing to regularly attend a course, but not receive credit, may register as an auditor, with the approval of the dean and the instructor."
UVM Catalogue — Exams and GradingEvery undergrad needs a laptop that meets their college specs
"Beginning with the Fall 2020 semester, all undergraduate students are required to have a laptop computer that meets the minimum specifications determined annually by their college or school (see college/school sections of the catalogue for more detailed information)."
