5 things worth doing early
"All undergraduate students at WVU are also required to fulfill a Capstone course." And: "Capstone courses can never be transferred from another institution, including courses taken while studying abroad." Find your major's Capstone now and plan to take it at WVU.
"WVU students are required to meet with their academic advisors prior to registering for classes each semester." And: "It is the student's responsibility to understand their degree requirements." Book the meeting weeks before your registration time opens, and check Degree Works yourself before you go.
In the General Education Foundations, "students will choose a minimum of three courses (9 credits) to fulfill foundation area F8, the Focus." One of the four ways to meet it is "completion of a minor". If you are thinking about a minor, tell your advisor early so it counts as your Focus.
"If a student is enrolled in two co-requisite courses (courses that must be taken and completed simultaneously) and withdraws from one of those courses, the student will be automatically withdrawn from the other co-requisite course as well." Before you drop a lecture or lab that is paired, check what losing both does to your schedule.
Gus is an AI college companion built around your actual classes. Record a lecture and it writes the notes, pulls out the key topics, builds a flashcard deck, and makes a practice quiz from what was actually said. The flashcards come back on a spaced-review schedule, so the thing you missed shows up again right before you would have forgotten it. It is free to try.
Three tries max on any course
"No course may be attempted more than three times unless approved by the dean of the student's major program." "Some academic units may also count withdrawals as a course attempt."
WVU Catalog — advising, enrollment and gradesOne assignment grade cannot be appealed on its own
"Grades for individual course assignments cannot be appealed except in the context of a final grade appeal or a charge of academic dishonesty." Raise a disputed grade with the instructor right away.
